1st Feature

I might tone down the monochrome blue to a sephia. I think it needs to be more quiet, not pop.

On the jump spread here, I guess the pull-quote should relate to the headline text in the opener spread. I might use lowercase to achieve that, not the same distressing though. However, I do like the tonal degrading between the lines, which I'll keep.

My magazine is about urban lifetyle. -name TBD. For now I'm using URBAN till something better comes up.

Target Audience

  • 25-35 yrs. old
  • M/F
  • College educated
  • Urban/suburban
  • Income 35K-70K

The overall layout in my first feature drafts, appeared like it was designed for a younger audience. Here, in these templates I'm trying to achieve my goal by making different type choices.

First drafts of my first feature opener

These are the first drafts of my first feature opener. As we discussed in the class, my type and photo choises make my feature openers appear as if they were designed for a younger audience, which I didn't intend to. However I do like the photos, so I want to make them work for the article. That means I need to work on the type and the layout.
